One of the many thing I enjoy about beauty blogging, is how lovely everyone in the industry seems to be. You might think it could be a bit catty in such a female dominated sector, but everyone I’ve met, from bloggers, brands and PR’s have been really friendly. Top of that list are the fab team at Pegasus PR, and it was with great excitement that I attended their Summer Showcase event yesterday. They work with some of my favourite brands, so I knew they’d have some great products on display, but the event really surpassed my expectations. As well as the tried and tested brands, there were a number of new discoveries to explore.
When I rocked up at One Marylebone, the showcase was really easy to navigate with all the brands having knowledgable people on hand to tell you more. The ever helpful Adrienne from Pegasus took the time to show me around all the stands, which was a really nice touch and meant that I got loads of info on everything.
Here are some of the brands and new releases that I think you’ll be keen to hear more about….
Collection
The High Street favourite rebranded last year (formerly Collection2000), but I have to admit, they haven’t really featured on my radar. That will definitely be changing after a sneak peak at some of their up and coming collections. There’s the Vintage inspired deluxe range hitting stores in August, the absolutely gorgeous Gothic collection being released end of September, their “Does It All Mascara” out soon and the current range which features bright neon colours and a rather impressive dupe of the Rimmel Apocolips.
The vintage inspired Deluxe range has a real Dita VonTeese vibe to it.
The Does It All Mascara claims to lengthen, volumise, nourish, separate and something else that I can’t remember – but it sounds impressive!
Steamcream
Not sure how I have missed Steamcream before, but the intriguing Anglo-Japanese moisturiser proved really popular yesterday. Made using an ancient steaming technique and containing the luxurious ingredients above, Steamcream is designed to sink into your skin really easily, allowing all the ingredients to get to work. The packaging is quirky and unique too. The little aluminium tins are environmentally friendly, light and recyclable as well as incredibly collectible!
Which of the Steamcream tins would you pick? Check out the exclusive design for London Fashion Week on the top left!
Dr. Organic
Venom is so last year Daaahling, this year it’s all about the snail slime! Yes you read that correctly! Snails have amazing healing properties, so they’re being farmed (no they’re not picking them up out of local gardens), where they happily move around smooth plastic panes, from which the slime is collected and used in the latest release from Dr Organic. With it’s fresh lemongrass scent, this gel is surprisingly pleasant to use.
Dr Organics also have lots of other lovely products, including their Coconut Oil and Spider Vein Cream (that’s a cream for Spider Veins, not a cream made of the veins of spiders, just in case the snails had worried you!). Currently you can purchase Dr Organic from Holland & Barrett stores nationwide, but there will hopefully soon be an online site for you to purchase from.
A few other brands that deserve a mention……
Witch
skin problems. Popular products include the Anti-Blemish Primer, BB Cream and Concealer – all design to treat as well as cover.
Holland & Barrett
Who knew that this “health food” store stocked more than your everyday vitamins and supplements? As well as a wide range of essential oils, they also stock some great emerging brands, including Dr Organic, Manuka Doctor and Burt’s Bee’s. A shopping trip is in order me thinks!
Micro-Pedi
Excuse the stock photo, but I was too busy pulling my tights down to try this to take a snap! I kid you not, I couldn’t resist trying it out and I was seriously impressed. No more “grating” your feet (PedEgg anyone?), oh no, this little gadget basically sands the hard skin of your tootsies, but doesn’t hurt or even tickle that much. Highly recommended and currently available in Boots.
Have you tried any of these brands? Do let me know what you thought!
