Well it’s not, but I do love a natural smelling deodorant! The lovelies at Weleda sent me a very cute travel set (review to follow) with some great miniatures. Strangely, my favourite product so far has been the one that is functional rather than pretty. The Weleda Citrus Deodorant contains refreshing, tangy essential oils of lemon and sweet orange which gives off a really summery, uplifting scent.
Unlike the usual powdery, chemically scent deodorants you find on the shelves, this one smells and feels natural on the skin. It uses a pump action glass bottle rather than aerosol, which means its kinder on the environment and easy to recycle. A couple of pumps under each arm is normally enough to keep me fresh all day, although on really hot days or those involving a lot of running around, I do like to reapply later in the day. It’s also a really lovely freshen up for your feet - ideal if like me your tootsies are shoved into heels all day.
I’ve never really thought about what I put under my armpits if I’m honest, but I have actually noticed a difference in my skin since using the Weleda Citrus Deodorant. It’s never bothered my that my skin was a little bumpy there, and I always thought (and still do) those perfect underarm adverts were tosh. However, my skin is now so much smoother, with none of those little bumps and slight discolouration are no more – and the only thing I can put this down to is not using chemicals.
The Weleda Citrus Deodorant doesn’t contain any aluminium salts – a bit of a buzz phrase at the moment – and the parfum is derived from natural oils. I never thought I’d say this about a deodorant, because lets be honest who really thinks about it, but I am a convert! I’m in France at the moment and have just purchased a full-sized bottle as Weleda is so much more widely available out here. I shall keep the travel-sized bottle for my handbag!
You can pick up 100ml for £8.50 at Weleda.co.uk
