Diamonds, Champagne & Gold for the face….Yes please!

We’re avid devotees to BeautyBible.com, they’ve been around for years and we find them massively inspiring. So when we heard about a product that they’ve deemed a “miracle” we just had to get our hands on it and try it ourselves.

Temple Spa’s Skin Truffle was trialed by 10 panelists, and was awarded a score of 9.3 out of 10, which is the highest score of any product in 15 years of The Beauty Bible! Priced at £80 for 50ml, it doesn’t come cheap so we were keen to see if the praise was well deserved.

The packaging is in line with other Temple Spa products, sleek and luxurious in minimalist neutral tones. The Skin Truffle pot wouldn’t look out of place in a high end spa, and looks very nice in pride of place on our dressing table!

At first look, you can see that the thick cream has a slight gold shimmer and the scent is very pleasant. It’s difficult to describe, but it’s not overpowering or synthetic smelling, it has a fresh, perfumed scent. Initially, the cream looks very thick for a day cream, however once applied it absorbs very quickly into the skin, leaving it feeling soft, smooth and plumped, but with no thick, heavy residue.

Some people may choose to use it as a more luxurious indulgence and save it for special occasions, however to really put it to the test we’ve been using it every morning for the last two months. You can see an instant change with one use, the consistency and texture makes it feel very decadent to apply, but it also makes a noticeable difference to the feel and appearance of your face. Skin is smoother and baby soft, and the very slight gold sheen acts as an illuminator, as if you were applying Clarins Beauty Flash Balm or similar. This really wakes up the face and gives you a healthy glow, great for those mornings when you’ve not slept well! It gives makeup an excellent base, and we’ve found we don’t need to use a primer underneath any more.

Over a prolonged period, we’ve noticed a difference in the very fine lines around our eyes, and the overall appearance of our skin is much smoother and radiant. We wouldn’t expect anything less with the ingredients list boasted by this little beauty though! Although it sounds like they’ve raided an A-listers fridge, the luxury ingredients do all have a purpose:

Black Truffles: Natural antioxidant, rich in amino acids which aid the collagen building process.

Cocoa Butter: Natural antioxidant, protects against free radicals.

Champagne Extract: Natural skin humidifier, gentle exfoliant and rich in minerals.

Strawberry Extract: Tones, freshens and purifies the skin.

Silk Peptide & Nano Gold: Powerful antioxidant combo, ultra hydrating and antibacterial properties.

Diamond Powder: Radiance boosting, illuminating glow.

You can tell that the ingredients are quite concentrated – a little goes a long way! We’ve used about a third of the pot in two months, so it will realistically last us six months. For us this makes the £80 price tag great value, especially when we believe it is just as good, in fact better than some of the other high end day creams, we’ve tried, such as Prevage and Creme de la Mer.

Although this is anti-aging, we’d also recommend this cream to anyone in their mid to late twenties, who wants to prevent skin aging and hide the sins of the odd heavy weekend! We will be adding it to our list of Holy Grail products and continuing to use it every morning.
