This inconspicuous number landed in through the letterbox in our January Glossybox a few weeks ago. We didn’t really think much of it as we’ve got lip balms lying around all over the place, however as we recently lost our favourite balm (Raspberry Balmi in case you were wondering), we thought we’d bump this one straight up to handbag status and give it a try.
We’ve not heard of J/A/S/O/N before, but it’s a US brand that’s been around for over 50 years, focusing on natural and organic beauty products. It’s readily available over here through the UK website and other stockists.
The first thing you’ll notice about this lip balm is the delicious scent, it is a dead ringer for After Eights, so much so that we want to chew our lips off when we apply it! The scrummy smell is from Peppermint Oil, so there’s no artificial, chemical tinge to it. It gives your lips a little tingle – not so much they feel cold like with tea tree oil, but just enough to be pleasant.
The formula is very creamy but it sits lightly on the lips and is completely clear, giving a nice natural shine. It really does help to smooth your lips, rather than just sitting on top of them like some lip balms do. Plus, if you can avoid licking it all off (it doesn’t actually taste of anything, so you won’t get to feel like you’ve eaten any After Eights!) it lasts for quite a long time before you need to reapply.
As you’d expect from a natural brand, it’s ingredients list is full of goodies; Beeswax, Vitamin E, Aloe Vera Gel, Shea Butter and Green Tea being some of them. Then there’s the nasties it doesn’t contain, there’s no Lanolin, Petrolatum, Mineral Oils or Parabens.
