Gadget Alert! It’s a sander for your feet….and it works!

Have any of you seen the Black & Decker Mouse Sander? It’s a small electric sander, and for some reason it’s the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the Emoji MicroPedi in action! It’s clearly not as industrial, but blimey it is effective. Having a slight obsession with getting baby soft tootsies, when I saw the MicroPedi being demoed I just had to have a go. Never mind that I was wearing tights and in a room full of people; the tights came down and the sander came out!

Don't use one of these on your feet - even if the idea is tempting!

Don’t use one of these on your feet – even if the idea is tempting!

There is something very off-putting about dry skin on feet, on men or women don’t you think? That’s probably why lots of beauty brands now have their own feet creams, but unfortunately it often takes something a bit tougher to get super-soft feet. Back in the day, you may have used a pumice stone, more recently you might have invested in the cheese grater-esque Ped Egg and spent ages sloughing away – or you might not be bothered at all and currently be wondering if I’m crazy….

Either way, enter stage right the MicroPedi. It’s a handheld, battery-powered tool that has a rotating replaceable roller which is covered with a coarse micromineral coating and spins a full 360° thirty times every minute. The MicroPedi comes with a “Very Coarse” roller as standard, but you can also buy replacement rollers in “Coarse” and “Super Coarse” depending on whether you need a more or less intensive treatment.

This little gadget is very simple to use, you just turn it on and the move the roller backwards and forwards across any dry areas on your feet. The roller gets to work, grinding away dead skin, and leaving any good skin alone. Be warned, you may find this slightly unpleasant – you will quickly notice tiny dust particles, which are actually microscopic particles of dead skin! The MicroPedi does tend to catch quite a bit of it, so you’ll need to shake it out over a bin and give it a quick dust with the brush included in your kit.

I noticed a difference within about two minutes of using it for the first time, it really is that instant. I used it for between five and ten minutes on each foot, whilst watching the TV and was impressed with the visible difference. I then proceeded to use it every other night for the first week until I had feet so soft, they’d have rivalled a three month old. Granted, I don’t have massively dry feet and I’m lucky enough not to suffer from cracked heels or anything like that. However, I do wear high heels every day and have also been living in flip flops, so my feet were definitely in need of some TLC.

There’s no way I’m going to show you my bare feet, but I can say that this diagram is definitely representative!

On an on-going basis, using the MicroPedi once a week is plenty to keep your feet really smooth. Follow with a foot cream and some moisturising socks and you’re laughing. MicroPedi do have a dedicated cream, but I don’t have it so used Soap & Glory’s Heel Genius, which is bloody fab. I can honestly say, it might not be the most glamorous of gadgets, but my Ped Egg is being chucked in the bin, as the MicroPedi is ridiculously good.

It’s worth noting, they also do a more manly looking version, which comes with super coarse rollers as standard. If your man’s feet are less than appealing, I would definitely get him one of these – plus what man doesn’t love a  gadget? There is also a pedicure attachment which I haven’t tried yet, which is supposed to be good for getting your nails look as good as your heels – watch this space and I’ll let you know what it’s like.

You can pick up a MicroPedi from their website here for £29.95. It’s also available at Boots, Argos, Lloyds Pharmacy and other stockists.

Have you tried the MicroPedi or do you have another product your swear by for soft feet?
